Two drivers stopped for excessive speeding in Pontiac MRC
Two drivers were stopped for excessive speeding in the Pontiac MRC today.
Shortly after 9 a.m. on September 10th, Sûreté du Québec officers stopped a 24-year-old man from Mascouche on Highway 148 in Shawville. Police say he was travelling 91 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre-per-hour zone.
He received a $627 fine and six demerit points. His licence was suspended for seven days, and his vehicle was towed.
Around noon, police stopped a 28-year-old man from Shawville on Highway 301 in Portage-du-Fort. He was allegedly travelling 93 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre-per-hour zone.
He also received a $627 fine and six demerit points.
The Sûreté du Québec is reminding drivers that speeding remains one of the leading causes of fatal collisions on Quebec roads.
