Two arrested in Shawville on drug, stolen property charges

At around 12:15 a.m. on October 2, officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were notified of the presence of a suspicious vehicle in Mill Dam Park in Shawville. The recreational vehicle fit the description of a vehicle reported to them following thefts in the park. At the scene, they met a man and a woman and after certain checks, they found that the man had 3 arrest warrants and he was in breach of conditions. They also noticed items that may have been stolen earlier in the day.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman from Gatineau. They were taken to the SQ station and remained detained for court. They could face charges of possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics, cannabis charges and breach of condition. After obtaining the judicial authorizations, the police seized more than 3 kilos of loose cannabis and 15 methamphetamine tablets. In addition, the police recovered some items that had been stolen earlier in the day.
