Transport: gradual resumption of construction road sites
Transport: gradual resumption of construction road sites
Since Monday, roadworks in the Outaouais region have been able to resume their activities gradually.
For each project that starts, the Quebec ministry of Transport ensures that public health measures as well as the recommendations of the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST) will be implemented to ensure the safety of workers.
More specifically for the Outaouais region, the following projects will be started this week:
• Repair of culverts on Highway 148 in Gatineau;
• Leveling and paving work on highways 5 and 50 in Chelsea and Gatineau;
• Reconstruction of the Kelly Bridge in Low.
These projects are part of the 2020-2022 road investments announced for the Outaouais region last February, and they contribute to Quebec’s economic recovery following the slowdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Several projects under the supervision of the Ministère des Transports were suspended after the Quebec government asked for the closure of all non-essential services, including transportation, on March 23rd.
The Québec governments’ annual investment for 2020-2022 plans to prepare or carry out road works in eight municipalities in the MRC Pontiac. Also read: The CAQ will invest 180 million in the Outaouais road infrastructure.
