This article is a part of a series of interviews CHIP 101.9 will be conducting with the candidates for the ongoing federal election. Each was offered roughly 15 minutes to answer questions about their campaign, as well as their party’s policies on a range of subjects. For more of our reporting on the federal election, you can visit the special Elections section of our website.
Todd Hoffman will represent the People’s Party of Canada as their candidate for the riding of Pontiac-Kitigan Zibi. The owner of Brauwerk Hoffman Brewery in Campbell’s Bay, Hoffman is a founding member of the Pontiac’s PPC riding association, and has hosted events there for the party’s leader, Maxime Bernier.
One issue that Hoffman has been vocal about is opposing Canada’s supply management system for dairy and poultry products, and said that he favoured a free market approach.
In regards to the tariffs and trade uncertainty coming from the United States, Hoffman said that in his view, Canada should not be responding with retaliatory tariffs, and instead should adopt a more “defensive approach”.
