On International Women’s Day, the Voix du PONTIAC- PONTIAC Voice Facebook group published a press release in which it is mentioned that it is heart wrenching that the group must still defend the right to proper health for women in the region.

“Sadly, our Pontiac sisters still have to leave the region to give birth to their child. The absence of an obstetrics department deprives them of a birth in a familiar environment offering the emotional support of their family, the security of being close to the place of birth and the familiarity of the team following the pregnancy. It is nevertheless incredible that in the 21st century, we are still defending a local service essential for the physical and mental well-being of women, argues the Voix du PONTIAC- PONTIAC Voice Facebook group.

“We would like to salute the frontline staff, who are mostly women, for the extraordinary work they have done during this pandemic. Please know that our actions to bring the obstetrics service back to the Pontiac community hospital will resume as soon as the pandemic is under control, “concludes the Voix du PONTIAC- PONTIAC Voice Facebook group.
