A First-of-Its-Kind Inuit-Led Exhibition Opens September 26 at the Canadian Museum of Nature
A groundbreaking exhibition led by Inuit opens on September 26 at the Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN). This innovative experience transports visitors to the unique Belcher Islands, located in the heart of Hudson Bay.
Titled Qikiqtait (the Inuktitut name for the islands, pronounced “hi-kik-ta-it”), the exhibition offers an unprecedented look at how the Inuit of the archipelago blend ancestral knowledge with technological innovation to shape their future.
The exhibition will run for two years, until September 2027. Camille Morin, exhibition content developer at the Canadian Museum of Nature, shares all the details:
The exhibition celebrates Inuit innovation and technology in environmental protection and harmonious living with the land.
Qikiqtait is hosted in the Savoir polaire Canada Northern Perspectives Gallery, recently renamed by the Museum. This dedicated space within the Canada Goose Arctic Gallery gives Northern communities a platform to share their own authentic stories about Arctic life and their millennia-old connection to the land.
