The TWIST Fibre Festival celebrates its 14th edition this weekend
Canada’s largest fibre festival returns to the Outaouais region for its 14th edition. Presented at the Whissell Complex in Saint-André-Avellin, the TWIST Festival will celebrate textile arts and living heritage from August 7th to 9th. Festival founder Amélie Blanchard tells us about this year’s key activities:
“Activities begin on Friday, August 7th at 11:00 AM. Everything will be open from Friday to Sunday. New this year is the arrival of Métiers & Traditions, a Quebec-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and sharing our traditions and all kinds of crafts. This year, we’re setting up a full tent: there will be 10 stations where you can participate in, observe, and learn about textile traditions. You’ll learn how to process linen, how to do botanical printing, how to spin, how to make sashes and how to felt; it will be interactive and exciting for everyone. We’ll also have musical interludes; we’re collaborating with the Ripon Trad festival and will have musical lunches every day.”
Visitors will be able to browse a large market featuring artisans and designers, attend demonstrations, participate in free talks, and take part in numerous family activities.
