The Sûreté du Québec holiday road side operations
Last week, the Police officers of the Sûreté du Québec in the Outaouais-Laurentides region intervened in more than 20 cases of impaired driving by alcohol or drugs across the territory. According to Stg. Marc Tessier, last week report was part of the province-wide Holiday operations to target impaired driving in Québec:
Several roadside checks are planned in the coming weeks as part of the opération nationale targeting impaired driving by alcohol or drugs. In addition, newly sanctioned mandatory testing is in place, which allows police officers to require a driver to provide a breath sample during a roadside check, whether or not they are suspected of being impaired. It may also be important to note that under new regulations it is now mandatory to have winter tires installed on a Québec platted vehicle since December 1st, 2019.
