“The situation remains fragile” repeats Dr Brigitte Pinard
The acting director of public health in the Outaouais, Dr. Brigitte Pinard, repeated yesterday that the situation of the spread of COVID-19 in the region remains fragile, given the risks of community transmission.
Despite an encouraging situation in the number of active cases, Brigitte Pinard reiterated that before a change of zone can be considered, the Outaouais needs stability. She explained that community spread is still present and that the recent opening of non-essential stores increases the risk of the spread.
“The data is encouraging and heading in the right direction, but we have to be cautious. I would like to thank the entire population in advance for continuing efforts to prevent the spread of the virus, ”said Dr Brigitte Pinard.
Also, Dr. Pinard mentioned that there had been no variant of the virus that had been identified in the Outaouais, but according to her, it would only be a matter of time.
“In the region, we must remain cautious in order to delay the variant as much as possible, especially since we are currently vaccinating the most vulnerable. The longer we delay the arrival of the variant, the more leeway we give ourselves, ”explained Dr. Pinard.

Increase in the total number of cases in Mansfield
While the Pontiac Local Health Network (RLS) still has 5 or less active cases, the number of Mansfield residents who have contracted COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic is now 7. Of the 66 cases since the start of the pandemic in the Pontiac RLS, 42 are from the municipality of Pontiac (Quyon, Breckenridge, Luskville, Eardley, Onslow).
