The rate of new cases remains high in the Pontiac
The situation of the COVID-19 pandemic is improving in the Pontiac, but it is still worrying because of new cases which have continued to be added in the last days. Even if there has been an improvement, the acting director of public health in the Outaouais, Dr Brigitte Pinard, explained yesterday (May 5) that the rate of new cases remained high.
“Regarding the MRC Pontiac, there has been a slight improvement, but the rate of new cases remains high”, explained Dr. Pinard, who underlined that the number of hospitalizations remains high for the Outaouais.
The number of active cases in the Pontiac was 52 as of yesterday, for a total of 315 cases since the start of the pandemic.
“We are looking at the situation very closely. Our investigation team is monitoring the situation on a daily basis. The team is able to stay in touch with the cases listed and ensure that mandatory isolation is observed and the rules understood. Overall, it will take us some time to say that the situation has stabilized in the Pontiac, ”explains Dr. Pinard.
The number of hospitalizations in the Outaouais is 43, which is still a high number, according to Dr. Pinard.
