The project L’érablière of ESSC is expanding
Thanks to the Ace of Spades Chase Community Fund organized by CHIP, another valuable community project is set to grow: the school sugarbush project at École secondaire Sieur-de-Coulonge (ESSC).
The project began two years ago in collaboration with the Lebrun family. Martin Bertrand, a physical education and outdoor education teacher at ESSC, explained how the initiative came to life:
Although the project is well underway and students are working hard, there is still much to be done. The $6,000 donation from CHIP will allow it to grow even further.
Once again, here’s Martin Bertrand:
Mr. Bertrand is inviting the community to lend a hand with the next stages of the project. Anyone who has equipment to donate can contact him at any time.
It is also worth noting that during the next maple season, the community will be able to purchase quality maple products made by the students, directly from their sugarbush.
The full (French-language) interview with Martin Bertrand and Wick Bolodeau, conducted by Nathalie Vasiloff, is available here.
