The Pontiac receives over $ 91,000 for cultural development
Financial assistance of $ 1,779,542 for 6 cultural development agreements with the city of Gatineau, the municipality of Chelsea and the four regional MRCs, for a period of 3 years in the Outaouais region, was announced last Friday. The MRC Pontiac will receive an amount of $ 91,350 under this agreement.
This financial assistance from the Quebec government is in addition to the measures put in place to preserve the cultural ecosystem in the context of the pandemic. By supporting the implementation of activities in accordance with current health rules, this amount will ensure a faster resumption of cultural activities when the situation allows.
“I am happy to give additional leverage of more than $ 22 million to structural and innovative cultural projects that are coming to life in regions across Quebec. The enthusiasm for these projects is unabated, and the record number of cultural development agreements this year is concrete proof of this. By relying on such partnerships with municipalities and MRCs, our government is staying the course on its objective of making accessible to all Quebecers this culture which sets us apart and which makes us so proud ”underlines the Minister of Culture and Communications, Nathalie Roy.
The government of Quebec is announcing this year a record number of agreements (184) totaling $ 22 million with municipalities and MRCs other than Quebec and Montreal. These agreements make a tangible contribution to the enrichment and cultural vitality of the regions. They adapt to the needs identified by cities and MRCs and ensure that citizens have access to works and cultural activities that are in tune with their reality.
“It is with great pleasure that we announce the conclusion of these new cultural development agreements with our municipalities and MRCs. In the current context of the pandemic, it is even more important to continue our efforts in order to contribute to individual and collective fulfillment through culture, to shape an environment conducive to the creation of the arts and culture and finally , to increase the contribution of culture to the economy and to the development of Quebec ”believes the native of Otter Lake and MNA for Gatineau, Robert Bussière.
