The Pontiac MRC and AgriSaveur Pontiac nominated for a municipal leadership award

The Pontiac region is in the spotlight for an initiative aimed at revitalizing agriculture and the agri-food sector.

The Pontiac MRC and the AgriSaveur Pontiac project are nominated for the Quebec Federation of Municipalities’ Municipal Leadership Award, notably for their work developing a food processing kitchen in Shawville.

This kitchen represents a significant infrastructure for the region’s producers and agri-food businesses. The goal is to provide them with a suitable space to process and add value to their products locally, which can help develop new production, reduce certain processing constraints, and promote the marketing of Pontiac products.

With AgriSaveur Pontiac, the MRC also hopes to contribute to the development of a stronger local food economy by bringing producers, processors, and consumers closer together.

The Shawville food processing kitchen is part of a broader vision: to create business opportunities for local producers, encourage the purchase of local products, and retain more economic value in the region.

The nomination for the Municipal Leadership Award recognizes the role that municipalities and regional county municipalities (RCMs) can play when they implement concrete projects to support their community and local economy.
