The number of CISSS de l’Outaouais employees absent due to COVID-19 increases
In what Québec Public Health officials are calling the start of the 6th wave of the pandemic, the number of Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais employees currently on sick leave due to COVID-19 has significantly increased in just a matter of days.
Last week, the CISSS reported having just over 40 employees missing as a result of the virus, that number has since spiked to 100 as of March 30.
In a news conference Sunday, Public Health Director Dr. Luc Boileau reported a steep increase in the number of COVID-19 cases province-wide, specifying that the health employees absent due to COVID represented 60% of the total absences. Boileau says this latest increase can be attributed to the Omicron sub-variant BA.2.
