The number of active cases of COVID-19 decreases in the Pontiac RLS
After reaching nearly 70 active cases on April 29, the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the Pontiac Local Service Network (RLS) decreased this week to reach 34 on Saturday, May 8. The director of public health in the Outaouais, Brigitte Pinard, nevertheless indicated that the Pontiac was still under surveillance, since new cases appeared during the week.
Mansfield-et-Pontefract has the largest number of cases in the MRC Pontiac since the start of the pandemic with 82. On March 1, this statistic reached 7 cases. The majority of COVID-19 cases therefore appeared within about two months. Since the start of the pandemic, in addition to Mansfield, the municipalities of Bristol (5 or less), Bryson (5 or less), Campbell’s Bay (11), Fort-Coulonge (36), Île-du-Grand- Calumet (5 or less), L’Isle-aux-Allumettes, Otter Lake (6), Portage-du-Fort (5 or less), Shawville (33), Sheenboro (5 or less), Thorne (5 or less) and Waltham (7) have all had cases, according to statistics from the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de l’Outaouais.
Municipalities with no case
However, compared to other MRCs in the Outaouais, the MRC Pontiac still has municipalities with no documented cases of COVID-19. These municipalities are Alleyn-et-Cawood (Danford Lake), Chichester, Clarendon, Litchfield and Rapides-des-Joachims. The municipalities of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais and the MRC de la Vallée-de-la-Gatineau, all indicate having had at least one case. The situation is the same in the MRC Papineau, with one exception, the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-Bonsecours.
