During their most recent municipal council meeting, the municipality of Pontiac passed a resolution modifying its emergency response agreement with the municipality of Bristol. According to the resolution, firefighters from both municipalities will respond to a house fire in proximity to the two municipalities. In an interview, the interim Chief of the Pontiac Fire department, Kevin Mansey, explained why this adjustment was made.

Note that prior to the modifications, the municipality of Pontiac would have had to advise the municipality of Bristol to respond to a proximity fire. This agreement only covers active house fire and the sectors between Quyon and Cochrane Rd.

The municipality of Pontiac has an existing arrangement with the municipalities of Chelsea and La Pêche, though a call must be made by one of the municipalities in order for them to respond to a fire located near the boarders of the communities.
