The MRC Pontiac – Safety advice related to domestic fireworks and outdoor fires

28 June 2022 à 12:00 am

The MRC Pontiac fire prevention service wanted to inform the public about the fire risks associated with the festivities during the summer. The fire prevention technician of the MRC Pontiac, Richard Pleau, wanted to remind you of the rules mainly concerning domestic fireworks and outdoor fires.

“There are a lot of instructions, I should say, here are a couple. Fires in compliant fireplaces are permitted at all times unless the municipality issues a ban on burning in the fireplaces. It could happen. Some municipalities require a permit for these types of fires. Be sure to consult your municipality about this. Also, a small safety note for outdoor fires, if you have one, don’t forget that at ground level, you need a surface that exceeds the perimeter of the complete fireplace by 45 cm, each side, a structure in stone or in metal, in brick even, it is correct. The fireplace cannot exceed 75 cm in width, 75 cm in depth and 75 cm in depth. »
