The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais wishes to preserve its police services in the future
The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais reacted to the report concerning the police situation in Quebec.
Remember that an advisory committee on police reality was set up to meet the various players in the police world and paint a picture of the major issues relating to police forces.
Among the recommendations, it was suggested that more police forces be brought together. However, the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouias, the only MRC in Quebec with its own service with the Collines Public Security, believes that their current service responds more to the values of their population.
“Several recommendations of the working group are in line with our concerns: a model of public safety focused on prevention, proximity to the community and relations with the community environment are all issues that our human-scale model sets. forward for several years already. The MRC Council of Mayors believes that the current model of our public security service has proven its worth, although significant changes should be made in terms of responsibilities and funding. We believe that the organization of services in the MRC des Collines largely meets the vision of the working committee ”
– Caryl Green, Warden of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais
Note that the Minister of Public Security, Ms. Geneviève Guilbault, has for the moment indicated that no merger was to be expected in the short term.
