The FQM asks for quality cellular coverage
The Federation of Quebec Municipalities (FQM) is asking for high-speed internet to quickly be rolled out across the province.
“This is the main request submitted by the FQM to the Minister of Finance of Quebec, Mr. Éric Girard, during a pre-budget consultation meeting held a little earlier today,” the FQM stated in a press release published on February 8.
“Too many of our regions are left in a technological no man’s land as mobile phone communication has become one of the essential linchpins of our professional and personal lives. Insufficient cellular coverage is hampering the development of our regions and threatening the safety of citizens. As spokesperson for the regions, the FQM intends to take this issue forward until the entire territory is adequately covered,” said FQM President Jacques Demers, who is also Mayor of Sainte-Catherine-de-Hatley and Warden of the MRC Memphrémagog.
The full (French-language) interview with Demers is available here.
