The first Fort-Coulonge Book Fair, held last Saturday, was described as a great success by the project’s founder, Sandra Lemire Wolf. The event brought together around 30 authors, including several well-known names. While the exact number of visitors is hard to determine, the invited authors were enthusiastic, with some selling more than 30 books—a remarkably high figure for this kind of event, especially for a first edition.

Sandra Lemire Wolf is taking a few days to reflect, but a second edition could likely take place as early as next fall. The Book Fair may also be moved to a different venue than the Pontiac Conference Centre, though it would remain in the Fort-Coulonge/Mansfield area. She noted that behind this event was also a sense of pride in being Québécois, particularly in a region like the Pontiac, which is often somewhat isolated from the rest of Quebec.
