The Observatoire des tout-petits, a project of the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation, unveiled the results of its most recent COVID-19 survey: How are toddlers and their parents doing?, carried out by the Léger firm. In particular, the survey shows that the pandemic has allowed parents to spend more time with their children, but it has also brought its share of challenges.

Fannie Dagenais, the director of the Observatoire des tout-petits, gave an interview to CHIP 101.9 on the effects of the pandemic on parents and on the behaviors of toddlers as well as the different sources of stress that accumulate for the parents. Fannie Dagenais notes that 39% of parents of children aged 0 to 5 observed that their child was more often irritable or quick to have anger than before the pandemic.

According to Fannie Dagenais, she encourages parents to use immediate support resources for parents, such as LigneParents, an intervention service offered to all parents of children aged 0 to 20 years old.

Fannie Dagenais also points out that more than one in four parents say their level of stress related to their financial situation has been higher since the start of the pandemic. This proportion rises to 38% for parents with a pre-tax family income of less than $ 40,000.
