The Desjardins credit union merger project has been abandoned
The proposed merger of the Desjardins credit unions of Rivières de Pontiac, Haute-Gatineau, and Gracefield will ultimately not take place.
After several weeks of discussions, the three boards of directors have decided to halt the process due to a lack of agreement on the terms of the new structure. As a result, no member vote will be held in June, as initially planned, and no further consultations will take place.
The differing realities and specific interests of each credit union made it impossible to reach a consensus. The possibility of considering a new merger project in the future is not ruled out, should conditions become more favorable.
This decision therefore ends the merger project that had been under consideration for several months.
