The Dandelion Challenge returns this spring to support biodiversity

7 May 2026 à 12:44 pm

This spring, a simple gesture could make a big difference for nature. The Dandelion Challenge, led by Nature-Action Québec, invites municipalities, organizations, and residents to delay the first mowing of their lawns in order to support biodiversity.

By allowing dandelions and wildflowers to grow for a few extra weeks, people provide an essential food source for pollinators such as bees and butterflies, especially at a time when they need it most after winter.

Municipalities, towns, and organizations can already register to officially participate in the initiative. Citizens are also encouraged to join the movement right away by simply letting their grass grow and showing their support using the sign available on the project’s website.

Together, this collective action helps protect pollinators and enrich local biodiversity.
