28 May 2026 à 10:37 am

The Bureau d’audiences publiques sur l’environnement (BAPE) will hold a public information session regarding the proposed establishment of an intensive land‑based recirculating aquaculture farm in the Pontiac RCM by Samonix Inc.

The meeting will take place on June 4th, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the Campbell’s Bay Recreation Centre. Residents will be able to attend a presentation of the project by Samonix and ask questions about the environmental impacts, the evaluation process, and the role of the BAPE. Christophe Marquis, Communications Advisor for the BAPE, explains what this important information session will cover:

“This information session aims to inform the population on the project and will allow them to ask questions to Samonix representatives. It will also allow the population to give the minister responsible for the environment a request for a public consultation or a mediation if they believe the BAPE commission must examine the issues related to the farm.”

The project aims to establish a land‑based aquaculture farm using an intensive water recirculation system within the territory of the Pontiac RCM.

The BAPE also reminds the public that the information period runs from May 27th to June 26th, 2026. During this period, citizens, groups, or municipalities may request that a public consultation or a mediation process be held regarding the project.

“The population will be able to ask their questions to the Samonix representatives, who will be present at the Campbell’s Bay Recreation Centre.”

Requests for a public review must be submitted no later than June 26th, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

The information session will be offered in person as well as livestreamed on the BAPE website and Facebook page.
