Canadian Armed Forces soldiers were dispatched to the Municipality of Waltham on Wednesday morning to help with prevention efforts related to rising water levels. In this area, the Black River and the Ottawa River are particularly guarded by authorities, as Fire Chief, Larry Perry, explains:
The mayor of Waltham David Rochon met with the Armed Forces on Wednesday morning to develop an action plan for the next few days. He told CHIP 101.9 that the priority remains to fill sandbags for citizens for now and to evacuate affected residents as need, such as those living around the Black River.
The citizens of Waltham who wish to have more information can contact the municipality via 819-689-2057.
