The 27th edition of the Outaouais Film Festival opens from April 9th to 19th
The Outaouais Film Festival will launch its 27th edition from April 9th to 19th, 2026, offering a rich and diverse international film program across several venues in the Gatineau region.
Under the honorary presidency of France Castel, this edition will feature over 90 films from 38 countries, screened not only at Cinéma 9, but also at the Canadian Museum of History, in Papineauville, at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO), and at La Basoche.
The opening night will take place on April 9th with a special screening and gala that will officially kick off the festival, while the newly introduced Youth Weekend will be held on April 18th and 19th, offering a selection of films suitable for young audiences as well as activities for the whole family. Annie Léveillée from Tourisme Outaouais provides more details:
“More than 100 films will be presented, including international premieres. Viewers can watch the movies at Cinema 9, at Salle Desjardins de la Petite-Nation, at la Maison du Citoyen, at the theatre of the Hotel and Casino Lac-Leamy, as well as in the Canadian Museum of History. On April 11th, 2026, at 4 p.m., an event will be hosted during which visitors can meet top content creators. On April 12th, 2026, at 12:30 p.m., Julie Payette, the astronaut, will be at Cinema 9 for an event as well.”
En plus des projections, le FFO propose également des ateliers, des rencontres avec des réalisateurs et d’autres événements culturels, permettant aux cinéphiles de découvrir des perspectives variées et d’échanger autour du cinéma d’auteur et des productions internationales.
Avec une présence accrue de films internationaux et une programmation qui vise à toucher un public large, cette édition du festival confirme son rôle de plateforme majeure du cinéma culturel et indépendant au cœur de l’Outaouais.
