Temporary interruption of navigation on the Ottawa River

10 November 2020 à 12:00 am

Navigation on the Ottawa River will be interrupted from November 10 to 19, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., between the municipality of Litchfield and Ontario because of the reconstruction work by Hydro-Québec of a section of the line to 120 kilovolts (kV) from Bryson-Des Chenaux by Hydro-Québec. This interruption of navigation will allow the installation of the part of the cables located above the Ottawa River. Last September, navigation was also interrupted in this same sector, but to allow the dismantling of the old cables.

“To ensure the safety of workers and users of the river, patrollers will once again be present on the watercourse,” said the advisor – Relations with the environment at Hydro-Quebec, Alain Paquette.

Remember that this line was put in place in 1941 and connects the departure substation at Bryson power station to the Hydro One facilities in Ontario. The project consists of reconstructing a 1.6 km section of this line, in the industrial sector of Litchfield. The work is made necessary by the age of this line which has reached the end of its service life.

Hydro-Québec asks residents to exercise caution near the site.

For any questions or comments, Hydro-Québec invites residents to use the Info-projects line: 1 800 465-1521, extension 6022.
