Spring flooding: situation closely monitored at the Patro of Fort-Coulonge / Mansfield-et-Pontefract
Every spring, rising waters of the Ottawa River cause concern in the Pontiac region. This year is no exception, as authorities and community organizations are closely monitoring the situation.
In Mansfield, the Patro de FC is also affected by this period of flooding. Its director, Suzie Lavigne, provides an update on the situation and the measures in place:
“It’s currently a very difficult situation; we are surrounded by water on all sides. All the buildings are currently protected by dikes. There’s not much we can do except stay alert to the rising water levels.”
According to her, the situation is being closely monitored. Ms. Lavigne also highlights the collaboration with the municipalities of Fort-Coulonge and Mansfield-et-Pontefract as well as emergency services, which remain essential during the flooding period.
In this context, she says community solidarity is strong, with many acts of mutual aid being observed across the region.
The Patro’s management is also urging residents to remain vigilant and to follow the instructions of authorities over the coming days.
