Spring 2026: support groups for caregivers and people living with a neurocognitive disorder

1 April 2026 à 12:24 pm

Spring 2026 marks the return of support groups offered to caregivers and individuals living with a neurocognitive disorder. These safe and welcoming spaces allow everyone to feel heard, understood, and supported.

The regular groups are intended for caregivers who wish to share their experiences, better understand the challenges associated with neurocognitive disorders, and receive practical tools to support their loved one. Meetings will begin on May 6th at the Aylmer service point and on May 7th in Gatineau, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration is required through a psychosocial support worker.

For individuals living with a neurocognitive disorder, the “Simply Us” group offers a supportive environment that encourages self-expression, helps maintain cognitive and social abilities, and reduces isolation. Meetings will start on April 9 in Aylmer, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Registration is also required.

A post-caregiving group is also available for caregivers whose role has decreased or come to an end. It is designed to support those experiencing grief, identity changes, or a loss of bearings. Meetings will begin on April 28th in Gatineau, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and registration is mandatory.

In addition, the Caregivers’ Circle, a casual coffee meetup, offers a simple opportunity to connect, share, and reduce isolation, with no prior registration required. Meetings will take place on April 2nd, May 7th, and June 4th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Aylmer and Gatineau service points. For English-speaking caregivers, the Caregiver’s Circle offers a similar space on April 7th, May 5th, and June 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in Aylmer only.

These initiatives aim to provide participants with support spaces tailored to their needs, in a respectful, safe, and caring environment.
