Sophie Chatel reflects on one year as Pontiac MP
A little over a year after being elected to the House of Commons in the 2021 federal election, Pontiac MP Sophie Chatel spoke with CHIP 101.9 about the work she’s done in that period. In addition to her duties as an MP, Chatel has also been named to the Commons standing committee on finance and presides over the Liberal rural caucus as well.
The main focus of her work locally has been her “Green and prosperous Outaouais” project. She spoke about where the current status of the project.
When asked about her work on the finance committee, Chatel spoke about “heatflation”, which she described as inflation and economic disruptions caused by climate change.
Chatel was also asked about the proposed changes by Elections Canada to the boundaries of the Pontiac riding. She stressed that the changes are made in a non-partisan way, but as the representative for the Outaouais she made some suggestions to the commission.
