Sophie Chatel brings together Outaouais agricultural stakeholders for a regional roundtable

3 June 2026 à 11:25 am

The key players in the agriculture and agri‑food sector of the Outaouais will gather on Friday, June 5th, 2026, at the invitation of Sophie Chatel, Member of Parliament for Pontiac–Kitigan Zibi and Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture and Agri‑Food. The MP is organizing a regional roundtable aimed at discussing the issues shaping the future of the sector, in a context marked by growing challenges and rapid transformations.

The event will bring together farmers, food processors, and representatives from regional agri‑food organizations. Discussions will focus on the upcoming federal‑provincial‑territorial agricultural policy framework, the future National Food Security Strategy of Canada, as well as key topics such as food processing, competitiveness, and regional food sovereignty.

The meeting will be held under Chatham House rules, allowing participants to speak freely. Media representatives will be able to report on the ideas discussed but may not attribute comments to any individual or organization without explicit consent. This approach aims to encourage open and constructive dialogue on the realities of the agricultural sector.

At the end of the roundtable, media representatives will have the opportunity to conduct individual interviews with participants who wish to speak publicly.
