SOPFEU encourages homeowners to better protect their homes against forest fires
With forest and vegetation fires posing an increased risk to communities near wooded areas, SOPFEU is launching an awareness campaign to help homeowners better protect their residences and cottages.
The organization reminds the public that several simple and inexpensive measures can reduce the vulnerability of buildings to flames, sparks, and embers carried by the wind during a fire.
The campaign relies in particular on the “Protect Your Home” platform, accessible on the SOPFEU website. Citizens can find twelve concrete recommendations there, covering topics such as landscaping, vegetation management, building materials, and maintenance.
SOPFEU hopes to encourage the public to take action before a fire occurs, complementing its own efforts to limit the impact of forest fires on communities, infrastructure, and forest resources.
