Six new 4-Year-old kindergarten classrooms in the Pontiac for the next school year
The Petits-Ponts Primary School will open six new kindergarten classes at the beginning of the next school year. The announcement was made on March 8th, in connection with Bill No. 5, amending the Education Act (Loi sur l’instruction publique) and other measures concerning early childhood education services for four years-old students. This bill provides gradual access to full-day kindergarten for all four-year-old whose parents choose to do so.
In the Pontiac, the Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais School Board should have six new four-year-old kindergarten classes at the pavilions:
Saint-Pierre Building (x 2), in Fort-Coulonge
Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur building, at Isle-aux-Allumettes
St. John’s Building, Campbell’s Bay
Sainte Anne Building, no. 1, in Île-du-Grand-Calumet
Sainte Marie Building, Otter Lake
In the Outaouais, a total of 34 classes should be starting across the region. Also, work is underway in the provincial government to ensure that 4 and 5 year-old kindergarten programs are tied into the preschool cycle.
