The water level of the Ottawa River has increased considerably in the last hours and the municipality of Rapides-des-Joachims has confirmed that it has reinforced their sand dikes in the sector of Principale Street. The director general of the municipality, Sylvain Bégin.
The floods caused by the spring freshet in 2019 will also have an impact on the opening of the hunting season for ZECs located in this area. Remember that in the ZEC Rapides-des-Joachims two culverts were damaged, at km 15 and km 32. The trail is not passable for motorists and quads are asked to avoid the area. The work should be done in the next few days.
In total, so far, four residences have been affected by the floods in Rapides-des-Joachims, but none of them have been evacuated by the municipality.
