Shawville’s Tanguay headed to National University Curling Championships
Shawville’s Monica Tanguay will be facing off against some of the best young curlers in the country next week as she takes part in the U Sports National Curling Championships in Lethbridge, Alberta from February 24-28. Tanguay will be playing lead for the University of Guelph Gryphons, along with a core squad she has played with since last year.
This is the first time Guelph’s women’s team has qualified for nationals since 2016 and Tanguay said she was looking forward to competing with some of the toughest young teams in Canada.
Tanguay grew up with curling on the television constantly and got her start playing at the Shawville Curling Club in the seventh grade. She said she loved the precision and the community aspect of the game.
