Shawville issues boil water advisory
Shawville issues boil water advisory
Residents of the Municipality of Shawville are being advised to boil their water for at least a minute before consuming it. The municipality put the notice out on their Facebook page Sunday afternoon, stating that the advisory had been caused by work at the water tower.
CHIP 101.9 spoke with Mayor Bill McCleary Monday morning and he said that it was currently unclear when the advisory would be lifted, as they were waiting on a water test. He said that following work on the tower, there were concerns about contamination and officials decided to issue an advisory until they had received a positive lab test. He stressed that there had been no negative tests results, and that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
McCleary said that they had asked for a rush on the test, but it could take a day or two for results.
