Shaughn McArthur officially candidate of the Green Party for the next federal election in Pontiac
Members of the Association of the Green Party of Canada (ADC) for the Pontiac Riding have officially hailed Shaughn McArthur as their candidate for the next federal election. This formalization took place as part of a hybrid in-person / virtual event overseen by Green Party of Canada parliamentary leader Elizabeth May and Pontiac Riding Association president François Joly. Over 50 Green Party supporters were in attendance.

In his acceptance speech, the new candidate of the Green Party of Canada in Pontiac, Shaughn McArthur, stressed the need to undertake true reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, to address the issue of affordable housing, to protect spaces against unsustainable development, to ensure decent health care for the elderly, to involve young people in democracy and decision-making, and to build a green and regenerative economy.

No official date has been put forward for the next federal election, but parties are preparing for a campaign as early as the end of the summer.
