Second teachers’ strike next Tuesday, April 27
Schools are closed, but members of the Syndicat du personnel de l’enseignement des Hautes-rivières (SPEHR) will start an afternoon strike on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Virtual classes will therefore be disrupted and, as SPEHR president Daniel Boisjoli explains, teachers will stop providing services as soon as the strike begins.
This strike will affect all Pontiac schools, both at the Centre de services scolaires des Hauts-Bois-de-l’Outaouais (CSSHBO) and at the Western Quebec School Board (WQSB). The objective, according to Daniel Boisjoili, is still to put pressure on the government in order to obtain an agreement with a view to a new collective agreement.
The CSSHBO sent a communication to parents in view of this day of strike next Tuesday.
“If your child had an appointment with a member of the support staff or professional staff (remedial teachers, speech therapist, guidance counselor, school training counselor, psychologist, rehabilitation officer and social worker), it will be maintained” , explains the CSSHBO.
Another day of strike risks disrupting the activities of the CSSHBO, but this time affecting the professional staff.
“In addition, we have been advised that the professional staff will also be on strike on Thursday April 29 from 12:01 am to 11:59 am. If your child had an appointment with a non-teaching professional, it will be canceled. However, distance education is maintained during this period, “said the CSSHBO.
Remember that the members of the SPEHR had already voted for three days of strike action, so at least one day remains which could be deployed soon.
