Screening of the 2019 Ski to Parliament documentary
More than fifty people attended the screening of the 2019 Ski to Parliament documentary last Friday at Sieur-de-Coulonge high school. This documentary summed up the cross-country skiing expedition of a dozen ESSC students from Fort-Coulonge to Parliament Hill in Ottawa in February 2019.
The adventure lasted four days and a total of 130 kilometres. One of the coordinators of the activity, and ESSC gym teacher, Martin Bertrand, gave more details :
The organizers say that now their plan is to submit the documentary to international film festivals in order to give more visibility to the project. Before doing so, however, some adjustments need to be done to the movie, notably in the translation of the final product, which it is currently mostly in English with some French content.
At the end of the viewing, the program participants were invited to go on stage to be presented and each received a gift. The organizers also plan to immortalize the project by writing the names of the students on the skis used in the 2019 expedition so that the next participants can remember those who came before them.
Remember that Ski to Parliament will be repeated in 2020, this time with the addition of students from Pontiac High School. The project will also see other MRCs in the Outaouais getting involved, including the MRC de Vallée-de-la-Gatineau and the MRC de Papineau. However, this year, there is no plan to do a documentary.
