Riverside Festival unveils its lineup
The 11th edition of the Riverside Festival will be back September 6 to 8 at the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau. The second largest electro music festival in Quebec to rely on the choice of artists to try to bring in the biggest stars of the scene. The festival‘s general director, Stéphane McGarry, reveals some of the artists who will be present.
Stéphane McGarry: “The Riverside Festival was 3 days of electronic music. This year we decided to change our usual so Friday night will be a little more of a concert. So this year Friday night we have Sean Paul. We will have all his band, his dancers and local openers as well as members of MindFlip. On the content of Saturday and Sunday night we added a bigger budget. So for Saturday we have Canadian DJ REZZ and for Sunday we have another Canadian DJ DEADMAU5.”
Mr.McGarry, who became director of the festival this year, is therefore in his first year as main organizer and has decided to apply a new strategy to make this eleventh edition a success, Stéphane McGarry explains.
Stéphane McGarry: “For the strategic side it was really simple. We looked at the number of people who went to the festival in the last 10 years. It was about 3700 – 4000 people a day. The strategy was simple, we look at the artists booked in the past and we figured if we brought back content that we call Elster DJs, we would sell more tickets and with the sales we will reach around 5,000 people per day. So the strategy was simply to have as many people as possible to come and discover the festival.”
