The Ottawa River Regulation Planning Board (ORRPB) has issued a warning to residents in its daily bulletin on April 23 that they could experience minor flooding in low-lying areas as the river levels increase due to this week’s rain, combined with snowmelt.

“Minor flood levels may be exceeded in flood prone areas along the river between Lake Coulonge and Lake Deschenes starting Saturday, April 26th,” the statement reads. “The minor flood level is defined as the level at which parts of some streets, lawns and parks are beginning to flood, with no or few houses/buildings being affected … Levels are expected to peak in all locations later next week and should not exceed 107.95 m, 75.35 m and 59.85 m in Lake Coulonge, Chats Lake and Lake Deschenes respectively, based on April 23 weather forecast.”

For more information on the river levels and forecasts, you can visit the ORRPB’s website.
