Review of the concerted national speed operation
Quebec police services, in collaboration with the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), have joined forces to raise awareness and make drivers aware of the dangers of speeding at the wheel. These actions were carried out as part of the Concerted National Operation Speed which took place from June 11 to 17.
The collaboration between the various police forces was very effective, allowing the holding of more than 8,660 operations targeting speed carried out throughout Quebec. This significant police presence, combined with raising awareness among users of the road network, was aimed in particular at modifying their behavior with regard to one of the main causes of collisions with serious injuries, namely speed.
In addition to the many interventions, police organizations also posted prevention messages on social media with the theme “I’m slowing down. I save lives. The angle chosen was to empower drivers and remind them that they are all part of the solution. Indeed, they can make a difference and actively contribute to improving the road safety record by slowing down.
