Residents react to the control points in the Pontiac

3 April 2020 à 12:00 am

The addition of control points across the Outaouais region has sparked many reactions among Pontiac citizens, which were heard most notably by the MNA for Pontiac, André Fortin.

According to Fortin, residents felt concerned about travelling between Québec and Ontario and the different sectors:

Since Wednesday, new road checkpoints have been set up within and on the boarders of areas across the Province to protect less affected but vulnerable areas, such as the Pontiac. This decision was taken in order to limit non-essential travel to prevent the spread of COVID-19 between regions. The Warden of the MRC Pontiac, Jane Toller, reacted to this new measure on CHIP 101.9: Update Jane Toller

As of April 2nd, there were 75 people in Outaouais with COVID-19. In Quebec, there were 5,518.
