Residents call for referendum on zoning changes in Mansfield

21 October 2022 à 12:00 am

The Municipality of Mansfield-et-Pontefract published a notice in the October 19 edition of the Pontiac Journal regarding zoning changes in order for a company to construct a development of several hundred rental cottages. The property is located near the old Pontefract Golf Course, and two nearby residents Guy Ladouceur and Doug Smith, were concerned with the proposed development.

Smith explained that the number of signatures needed is 99, otherwise the zoning changes will go through automatically.

Ladouceur said that he’s not against development, but wanted more information about the project to be made public before the changes were made official.

Residents of Mansfield are able to register their signature at town hall on Wednesday October 26 between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. They may also vote by proxy.

The notice of proposed zoning changes is available on the municipality’s website.
