Report from Couthures-sur-Garonne; A town in a flood plain
CHIP 101.9’s Élizabeth Séguin accompanied a Quebec delegation to the International Journalism Festival from July 12th to 14th in Couthures-sur-Garonne in the South West France. This region, located on the edge of the French River ‘Garonne’, has experienced historic floods through the year and especially in the 80s. Floods which were devastating for this village which now has some 400 residents.
A report has recently been made by Élizabeth Séguin, focusing on the logistics surrounding the floods in Europe and on the community aspect in Couthures-sur-Garonne emphasizing the importance of communications and media in times of crisis.
