Reopening of shopping centers on June 1st
Shopping centers will be able to open their doors again next Monday, June 1st, everywhere in Quebec except in the greater Montreal area.
The details are expected to be announced Tuesday afternoon by the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Pierre Fitzgibbon.
Several other sectors will be the subject of a reopening announcement in the coming weeks, according to Quebec Premier François Legault on Monday.
An update of the gradual deconfinement plan, in several phases, was also published in the last hours. The deployment of this deconfinement plan is conditional on the evolution of the epidemiological situation, and this, in all regions of Quebec, said Mr. Legault. “And for the other sectors, we have to go gradually so as not to overload our hospitals, where the staff situation is always precarious. But I want to tell you that you have not been forgotten”, he said. The Premier gave examples of sectors that will soon reopen: campsites, places of worship, restaurants, bars, gyms, professional sports and hotels.
The targeted sectors are currently the subject of work at the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité au travail (CNESST), in collaboration with public health authorities. Guides setting out the reopening procedures in each sector are being prepared and will be distributed in the coming days and weeks.
François Legault also reserved a special message for artisans from the cultural sector during his press briefing. “I have often said, for me, culture is the soul of a people,” he said. I think we can open the filming sets and make recordings, by following instructions. We can catch shows. We already have a few examples on television. Quebecers need to see their artists. I have a meeting this afternoon with the Minister of Culture. We will release a special budget for culture. It’s important for the morale of Quebecers.”
CHIP 101.9 is also preparing an intimate concert with local artist Michaela Cahill, who is a participant in La Voix 8, for Marc Dupré’s team. Michaela will perform live on Pontiac community radio on June 8th, immediately after the radio-bingo.
