In a Press release issued by the MRC Pontiac following the regional council of mayors meeting Wednesday (March 20) in Campbell’s bay, it highlights of the meeting itself and of the decisions taken by the mayors of the council. In regards to the Financial department, it was mentioned that the council adopted the audited financial statement for 2018 and the implementation of a Disclosure of Wrongdoing mechanism on its website which states ”you have the power to act if you witness a wrongdoing committed in a municipality or a municipal body”. There was also further mention of the Youth Council and of the presentation of its’ president, Jordan Larivière, during the meeting.
A large section of the documents relates to the Economic Development of the Pontiac where it highlights the extension of the agreement with Livewell by 6-months, the investment of $5, 000 in support of the Shawville Lions country Jamboree as well as smaller donations and sponsorships.
On Wednesday, the MRC’s Regional Council showed their support towards the mayor and municipality of Rapides-des-Joachims in their request to the Minister of Natural Resources to transfer land to the municipality, so it can access parcels of land to attract small businesses or for current residents to expand or renovate existing properties.
