Record turnout for Quad Club’s Big Wow Poker Run

8 April 2024 à 1:24 pm

The parking lot of the Shawville arena was filled with the revving engines of all-terrain vehicles on Saturday morning (April 6) as more than 100 participants turned out for the Pontiac Quad Club’s annual Big Wow Poker Run.

Organizer Diane Barrette said that they had just under 150 registrations, making this year’s iteration their biggest ever. She explained that participants work to gather playing cards from five points throughout the Pontiac, from Quyon to Otter Lake, and hope to return with the highest scoring poker hand. The day wrapped up back in Shawville with a spaghetti supper in the Lions Hall.

This year’s big winner was Paul Morin.

Barrette said that in addition to around 40 kilos of food items donated by participants, they were able to raise $1,500 for local food bank Bouffe Pontiac. She said that it’s important for the organization to give back to the community. She also thanked all the local businesses who donated prizes and helped make the event a success.
