RCMP Musical Ride comes to Bryson

RCMP Musical Ride comes to Bryson

15 May 2023 à 2:15 pm

The RCMP’s horseback performing troupe, the Musical Ride, was in the Pontaic on Saturday (May 13) as part of the Municipality of Bryson’s 150th anniversary celebrations. The village that is now known as Bryson was originally named Havelock from 1858-1873, after a British General, Sir Henry Havelock. However, due to another municipality incorporating under that name elsewhere in the province, the town was renamed in 1873 in honour of George Bryson Sr., a local lumber baron and politician (who is also the ancestor of current MRC Pontiac Warden Jane Toller).

Meghan Griffin, a member of the Bryson 150 Committee, explained that this year is also happens to be the RCMP’s 150th anniversary as well.

She added that the 150th Anniversary celebrations will be continuing throughout the year.

The full interview with Griffin (2m35) is available here.
