Quebec Public Markets Week 2026: Celebrating local flavours

6 August 2026 à 9:42 am

The 18th annual Quebec Public Markets Week takes place from July 30th to August 9th, 2026. Organized by the Quebec Public Markets Association and presented by the Union of Agricultural Producers (UPA), this initiative celebrates the producers, processors, and artisans who bring public markets to life throughout the province.

Under the theme “It’s time to go. For real.“, the campaign invites Quebecers to prioritize local food, meet producers, and discover the abundance of seasonal products. Fresh fruits and vegetables, meats, cheeses, artisanal breads, honey, maple products, and other regional specialties await.

During this period, many public markets offer tastings, cooking demonstrations, family activities, musical performances, and opportunities to meet producers, providing visitors with a friendly and delicious experience.

Beyond simply buying fresh produce, public markets promote local food systems, support the regional economy, and allow consumers to better understand the origins of the food they eat. They also help reduce the environmental footprint associated with food transportation and strengthen ties between citizens and producers.
